There is an amazing show at the Museum of Modern Art entitled Richard Serra Sculpture: 40 Years. It includes both early work and more recent large-scale installation peices using such materials as rubber, neon, and lead. The highlight of the show for me is a series of huge, 13-feet high, curved steel plates, set side-by-side that you can walk through, feeling almost dizzy by their curves and torques. What is most unbelievable to me is the "skin" of the steel, composed of a natural patina of peeling and velvety rusts, ochres, blues, browns, and greys. It called out for photos and a number are included in a slide show below.
