For the first time, I decided to bring a small selection of art supplies with me on vacation so that I could begin a visual travel journal. I have recently been inspired by many other artists who have done this and by Michelle Ward's Street Team Crusade to create a portable journal kit. I wanted to start the journal while in Greece so that I could capture moments of inspiration while they were happening.
Although I was only able to sporadically work on the journal, I really enjoyed being able to reflect on my experience in the moment and maintain a connection with my artwork while away. I also asked people I met along the way to contribute to the journal. I purposely brought along small sheets of handmade paper which I provided and asked them to complete their own page in any way they liked. I am inspired by these pages and of course will be including them in the journal. In the coming days I plan to continue to work on my pages, print and add my photographs, and bind the journal together. I know I will look forward to reviewing the journal many times in the future as a reminder of my incredible adventure. Here are some glimpses of the pages I completed in Greece:

What a wonderful project. I love that you asked other people to contribute. That is a really special inclusion. It will bring back all those memories over the coming years.
This is so wonderful, Seth! I can't wait to see more. And having other people that you've met on your trip contribute is just inspired.
great ideas - i want to see - i want to see!!
Can't wait to see it all put together! Thanks for allowing me to vacation in Greece with you through your wonderful photos! Debbie
I really admire you for being organised to take your journal supplies with you while you travel and to actually use them. So many times I have had good intentions to do this but sadly for me it never happens. More often than not they just come along for the ride and never see the light of day.
How fun!
More, I want more!
These bits are tantalizing and wonderful. xo
that is too awesome seth; i can't wait to see the whole thing. so clever of you to get people to write and to include that in your journal. i really cannot wait to see the whole pages.
welcome home! looks and sounds like a voyage without measure. bravo for taking along a kit *beams* and that you were so clever to collect evidence from the souls you encountered. i'm thrilled to see this country through your viewfinder.
I love the inclusion of others in your journal - what a precious record of BEing there...
xox - eb.
Oh, boy, how much I'd love to touch those papers! They are so interesting-looking. I like how much some of them look like 'reportage'. I enjoyed taking some supplies with me on my trip, it really does keep you connected, and even more mindful.
