As the Sun Sets...

As the sun sets on 2016...

and I reflect on my experiences this past year...

I think about...

my sense that there is always light to be found in the darkness...

how hard it sometimes is to maintain my balance...

the fact that I always have the opportunity to write my own story...

the times when life felt mixed up and tangled...

the many treasures I found in unexpected places...

the losses that continue to hurt all these years later...

those special memories I created through my own choices...

the moments I was running on empty...

my faith in the belief that what goes around comes around

the heights I reached through hard work and determination...

and my continued quest...

Thank you all for continuing to be such a big part of my journey this past year. I look forward to all the adventures we will have together in 2017.

A happy, healthy, and creative new year to each and every one of you!

Images of Taos

I have just had the privilege to spend five days with 15 creative artists who attended A Case of Curiosities -- a retreat I hosted with Roxanne Evans Stout in Taos, New Mexico. This was a week filled with creativity, exploration, laughter and joy. As the days unfolded it became so much more that an art class. It was truly an experience to remember.

As a way to bring this experience to you, I will be sharing a series of posts that hopefully capture the uniqueness of the retreat, the beauty of the location, and the creativity of all those involved. Today  I bring you...

Photo Op

I had the pleasure of teaching my Photo Op workshop last night at Artistic Artifacts in Alexandria, Virginia. This class is old school - all about taking our photos out of our phones and altering them by hand rather than with apps.

The room was overflowing with creativity and it spilled all over every single altered photo. Each picture did speak a thousand words, as can be seen in these details...

As the Sun Sets..

As the sun sets on 2015...

and I look back on my experiences this past year...

I think about...

The opportunities I had to travel across so many different roads...

The flashes of synchronicity that seem to seek me out...

Those moments when it seemed like all I did was go round and round in circles...

All the helping hands that reached out to me...

The losses that still hurt...

All the doors that opened for me...

The periods of stormy weather...

The hills I have climbed and how sweet the view was after the effort...

The beauty to be found in the most ordinary things...

The strength I feel despite the challenges...

The signs that have pointed me in the right direction...

The thrill of living in New York City...

The importance of seeing the world with eyes wide open...

How fortunate I am to be able to do what I love...

and all the possibilities that have yet to unfold...

Thank you all for continuing to be such a big part of my journey this past year. I look forward to all the adventures we will have together in 2016.

A happy, healthy, and creative new year to each and every one of you!
