Color Chronicle

I have been taking an online art journaling workshop being taught by Vivian Bonder, the talented Australian mixed media artist and journaler. There are five parts to the course and I have just completed part 1, which is primarily creating backgrounds and putting your journal together. Covers and additional work on each page will be taught in parts 2-4. I thought I would share some sample pages throughout completing the parts of the workshop. Below you will find a few spreads from part 1, backgrounds only. I have also included some close-up shots. Click images to enlarge.

Your painted pages are beautiful!
I love the splattered paint, and the circle (from a glass bottom perhaps?)...I longed to hear more description of type of papers, paints used...I hope you'll share when you add to these pages as well.

And yes, wow, I went to Vivian's blog and what a find that is!
Can one have too many artists to visit? NEVER!!! ;-) thanks for sharing! ;-)

I scratch my head..

How come I have never heard of this amazing earthy grrl before?? Is it just us Aussies who resist shining the light on their fellow countrymen-type-persons? *growl* Had this chat with Judy Wilko too. Anyway, thanks so much for the link, she is firmly in my favorites now.

These pages look very inviting, and that´s what journal pages should look like before you´ve written a single word ...

Geez Seth, these backgrounds look great just on their own... Sounds like a great class to take.

You've got some beautiful effects with these papers! Some of them look like they came from the earth or the sky.

Online course, now that sounds awesome.

Excellent! I often start my painting with these sort of backgrounds. Backgrounds are, in my opinion, extremely important and worth spending a lot of time on.
