Travel Journal: New Mexico

It has been two months since my trip to New Mexico and I have recently been busy reliving the memories of that adventure. I have spent the last few weeks completing my travel journal. I have posted all the spreads from this journal below. I have also included a close-up of each color journal page. Click on the images to enlarge. To see larger versions of some of the black & white pages (text was pixelated in the photos) please click here and here to see previous postings. I hope you enjoy going on this journey through my journal with me!

So artfully, cleverly, tastefully done. I liked the positioning of the pages, and the shape, the torn edges, the few but carefully chosen embellishments...painted and printed, stamped, all done with aplomb.

That is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. A piece of beautiful artwork, serving as a journal, serving as a reminder of your trip. If only I had that much talent.

Well, my porridge is going cold, but this is a great way to start the day! From the moment I saw that battered and worn cover, I knew I was in for a treat. I just love the worn and road weary edges and the texts seem to be breathing a story even before you read the words.

Stunning work, Seth.

did you know I just had a cup of tea with your journal? we chatted while I sipped.

Each time you show a journal I think it is my favourite - until you show the next one. Beautiful combination of colours, textures and images.

Oh Seth, this has got to be the coolest (don't I say that every time?) journal ever! I love the colors and the way you've captured New Mexico in the pages. I also love seeing the thickness of the pages...that's something I really adore about my journals and seeing it in others, too. Awesome journal!
Peace & Love,
~Barb~

kindred spirits we are, you and i. goodness, seth - this takes my breath away. thanks so much for going to the trouble and time to post these images. i highly suggest you write an article and submit for publication (to a DESERVING publication, mind you - this is notthe typical fare you see these days in so many magazines)...x nina

Seth, I agree with Nina. This needs to be in a deserving pub...You need to do it!

Your journal captures NM so well. The texture, the colors, EVERYTHING! Beautiful!

It's a beautiful journal. It doesn't look new, but looks like an antique journal you came across full of mysteries. I love the page with the spilled ink...

I can imagine would feel so good to hold and leaf through. It looks to have such a nice weight to the paper. Gorgeous.

Awesome book Seth!

it's so YOU.
i tried to choose a favorite page and couldn't, each one being so interesting in it's own way. i hated not being able to read the text. but then "mystery" is so you too.

loved the way you held it open with the round clips.

Seth my life has been crazy with taking care of Mom's wishes and the Christmas wishes for the grandchildren. Your visual journal was a sacred reliquary that I would love to see in person some day. Your prayerful process of making your marks fills my heart with a sense of wonder. Imagine and Live Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

Oh Seth! This is a kick-ass travel journal. Just fantastic! Really. So much thought and effort and so much of yourself and your experiences in this magical place. And what an amazingly cool container for it all! Really. Do you EVER sleep?? My travel journals, while full and descriptive, don't compare to this lovely work of art. Do you write everyday and then re-copy when you sit down after the trip? I love how you did this and you have inspired me. Thank you so much for sharing and letting us click to make the images bigger. Wow! xo frannie

it's been said that
the journey is not
the destination.

i don't think anyone would doubt
after seeing yours,
that the journal
can be
the destination.
