Continuing the reveal, this is the second in a series of posts highlighting the results of Inner Works, the altered book collaboration I participated in with Jill, Veronica, Rita, Roxanne, and our host Supria. You can see the first post of the reveal here and experience the whole journey on our group blog Inner Works.
My book cover was designed with found metal objects, torn and altered paper, ripped fabric, rusty wire, a tintype, and a rough metal hinge...all in keeping with my theme Distressed Elements.
It took one year to receive my book back and it was bursting at the binding. In fact, it was so filled that it was difficult to capture the spreads in photographs.
I started my book with a one page spread, creating two pages that were inspired by my theme.
Each of the participating artists interpreted the theme in such unique and personal ways.

This really does showcase, highlight and reinforce the truth that every artist is unique, different and have their own personal strengths and designs-- all very strong in this collaboration.
This is such an incredible collaboration Seth! The pages are stunning!
Your gentle styles and techniques meld together in such a harmonious orchestra of rich textures and images. I would have to believe that this year long collaboration has to be published in a collaborative book...it is so inspiring to all who would be able to share this vision. I am serious that this is a way to find another way to pay for your art supplies and daily living as a productive and gracious artist. This poetic book could almost write itself as each of your dialogue your sacred process...the only thin left to do is add a musical score :o). Thank you for sharing in detail this process. Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
my word verification word is wolif...so ironic how I am researching the behaviors of canis lupus..my constant companion my wolf.
I just love your whole book, how you are posting about it and the display of all our artwork together! Look forward to seeing everyone's posts of their books-again, each with our own style, presentation and theme for our books! So much to look forward to!!
It really is a stunning collaboration Seth! You must be so pleased! and a whole year! you must have been on pins and needles the whole time! I get antsy with work out of my sight for six weeks! LOL- I can imagine you have poured over every page numerous times, discovering some new truth with every viewing. Kudos.

Great work!
My fav page is the one with the photo in the strings. But they are all wonderful and intriguing.
And I see you've got the same problem as I have when taking pictures of an altered book, one can hardly open the pages anymore!
I was in a similar journal exchange. I love my book and I know how much you must love yours. Looking forward to more about it.
Love that one: Remember this - anything can happen. Yes!
it's beautiful seth, and full of voices. i feel like every page speaks with the voice of its creator.
I'm imagining how heavy it would feel in my hands if I was l turning the pages right now...Such an inspiring post. Thanks.
Absolutely beautiful Seth. You may have just given me back my muse!

This is such a terrific combination of styles and layers. I adore what you've done with the assemblage on the cover..with the tin type on the flip side and then there's that fabulous string you use..again...what is that stuff called?!;)
Just showing bits of the books... yet it is clear they re different flavors, nice! -Jayne
Wow Seth, these are absolutely gorgeous, rich, and inspiring! Sure wish I could touch and page through them each!!
Wow! This book is A-MAZE-ING!!! What a treasure you have!
Oh my! Scrumpdillyump! Jill's work in particular resonated w/me. Off to check out all the other artists' sites.
I can almost hear the pages crackle upon opening. What a treasure of a collaboration and an inspiration.
I have several "round robin" books that I've participated in and I'm always amazed at how the artists rise above and beyond their own expectations. The combined energies are exciting and contagious, as your fabulous book reveals.
(I have tried my hand at "disintegrating" elements & several of my efforts have turned into mud!
Sigh. To get art from detritus is difficult at best.)
It's not possible to drink in all the beauty of these pages in one visit. Every one speaks to me and I thank you for sharing.
Very cool! I love the theme and the work of each artist. What a treasure!
absolutely AMAZING work!
This is such an exquisite book! Art like this just lifts my spirits. I can only hope that some day I will have the opportunity to collaborate on such a project.
Very Nice!!! Six artists, six different styles, one year. It all works so nicely to make one great book.

There is so much to take in from these wonderful pages of the book. I keep scrolling up, down, up, down. At this rate I'll end up seasick! LOL! There is so much inspirational work here I bet you pick this book up often to browse through. To all the collaborators a wonderful effort. It is such a joy to share this little piece of your souls.
