Over the last few months, I have completed a new series of mixed media originals. Called Elemental, this collection brings me back to the basics: starkly simple, spare, fundamental.
Texture: rough and distressed. What lies underneath.
Color: pale blues, greys, and whites. Sky and sea.
Shape: lines, circles, and crosses. My favorites.
Image: photographic elements. Abstract fields.
Detail: metal and rubber. Found and unfound.
Each piece of the series is one-of-a-kind and has been created on cold press watercolor paper, handmade in Montreal at the Papeterie Saint Armand. The background is highly textured and layered with hand-mixed, acrylic paint and every color field in the series is a unique shade. Making use of the horizon line as an anchor, the artwork also includes original photographic images as well as metal and/or rubber elements. Each piece measures approximately It 10" x 7 1/2".

gorgeous work, seth...i bet that's a beautiful bunch all together too...
brilliant work Seth
it must be grand to see displayed all together too ... there is something about a "body" of work that makes such a statement, each piece in its own right and as a group
Happy Weekend and reentry time to you
What a fabulous and exciting Elemental series- basic beauty, simply super, texturally the top with xxx to boot! So terrific that these will be in the Virtual TART exhibit in November. What a treat for all!
Love it! Cool that you are in the show through Dale's Virtual TART exhibit.
Powerful work Seth.
I love the simplicity and elemental says it perfectly. You've really captured it.
Great new series Seth, I think this one is my favorite.

These are remarkable, Seth. I love the subtle changes in color and texture throughout. Love too that you found a treasure in the Papeterie St.Armand in my home town ! Luscious paper from the looks of how it absorbes those colors !
Good luck with the exhibit!
looks terrific, Seth! I will be visiting the exhibit more than once! meanwhile it is nice to have a preview! thank you
Well done Seth! As I glance over to one of your collages in my studio, I can imagine how much the textural elements 'pop' when viewed in person.
Beautiful work! I bet it is wonderful to in person.
Beautiful series, I love your pictures, you have a very attractive abstract language. Greetings.
So breathtaking!
Wonderful new series Seth, congratulation on getting it onto Dales site. I'm sure it will be popular.
What a gorgeous collection of work.
I love the layers.
Wonderful to see a preview, Seth. Elemental VIII and V are my favourites.
Very earth, they bring to my mind the natural beauty found in stone
(one of my very large collections)
Well done!!
textured and distressed layers with rusty metal...it doesn't get any better. simple on the surface but complex underneath...a brilliant series, Seth. I like the larger format too.

did you just say a "Virtual Tart"?...
I hope you had a special time in one of my favorite cities...London. I was there in December about 10 years ago and fell in love with the people and the history. Your images are wonderful...Elemental designs elegantly executed! Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
These are beautiful! i love the texture, and how it plays against the greys and whites. Very nice work.
Love this series Seth. The subtle tones really allow the textural qualities of the pieces to show through.
Fabulous to see your work featured on a New Zealand web site!

Great work! What a beautiful collection. I love the textures and color palette. The kind of art that adds character to any space it occupies.
Fabulous concept...wonderfully completed....nice job, Seth!
Your new elemental series is so striking and "grounding" at the same time. I really like your use of the horizon line & the circular studies, and the crosses, one of my favorite's also. Am looking forward to browsing the TART exhibit. Exciting to see your continually evolving body of work!
I really love the Elemental series, the simplicity is perfect and the textures gorgeous (and I'm a sucker for blue of any kind).
I saw your virtual exhibit this morning on the Virtual Tart site- but seeing them here up closer and in more detail shows the textures and subtle changes among them so much better.
These are all brilliant. I really love the texture and pattern of each of these. They are stunning.
