Love "The Friday Five". I started reading a bit at work and realized I just spent 1/2 hour reading. I will have to finish this tonight!! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Seth! I particularly identified with "Artists as Hoarders". I am rather a 'curator of goods' myself. :) In the words of Charles Wade, 'Let nothing perish'!

Oh how I love this! A fabulous read. Regarding artists are horders. I collect stuff. A also purge regularly. I used to have a giant plastic tub of paper. I looked at it one day and was just sick of it. Don't you get tired of your ephemera? I just dumped the whole thing and the tub in the recycle bin. I went down to two small boxes. Inside of a month, they both were full. I now regularly purge it. I look at a piece of paper, if it doesn't interest me it goes in the recycle bin.

I work on my art desk, it has a thick unbreakable glass top. I tape down our local paper and some papers. I work on that. it gets paint, glue, etc on it. I add papers to it. when I finish a project I pull the whole thing off and cut it up and bury it in a section of my garden. Recently I dug some of it up. It did not have enough worm holes in it. I went to our local sporting goods store, bought two tubs of worms to add to the dirt. Back to my desk, I completly clean my desk off at the start of a project. I add my paints(currently Seth's paints, a few chosen Nova paints, and gessos, matt gel and matt medium. As I work on a project my desk fills with stuff. By the end of a project I probably have a small two foot square to work on. When the project is done, I start all over with a clean desk.

Once again a fascinating read. Really loved the collector, hoarder post. I love my collections and stuff and feel great comfort Thanks again! being surrounded by it. My sister who has joined the the raging minimalist movement says my studio is out of control. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is controlled chaos and I know where every single thing is, well almost.
