Art Tip Video 3: Stamped Abstract Backgrounds

I have created a series of art tip videos with Artists Network, all 4 minutes or less, highlighting some techniques that are a large part of my mixed media work.

In this video, I share my approach to creating layered, stamped backgrounds that add depth, dimension, and design to your mixed media work. Grab your stamps and click on.

Phresh New Stamp Release

PHRESH

Thrilled to finally be able to share my newest release from Impression Obsession - four stamp sets to add to your ever growing collection.

Which type of creative soul are you? What words best describe your creative direction? Are you a Traveler, VoyagerSeeker, Wanderer or Explorer always on a creative quest? Or perhaps you are more of an Illusionist, InventorAlchemist or Magician, making art magically appear. Maybe you are a Rebel or Revolutionary, using your art to make a change. You could be the BohemianGypsy, Dreamer or Wayfarer, with an ever changing creative voice. Perhaps it is all about personal expression and you are in fact a Storytelller,  or Archivist. But no matter who you are, there is no doubt in my mind that you are an Artist.

We all have a story to tell. And for that we need language. Sometimes a photograph, a paint stroke, or a collage is the perfect vocabulary. But at other times, we need the perfect word. Take a look, as you just might find it here.

First things first. Without a doubt, now is the time to think out of the box and to draw outside the lines. It's now or never but take one day at a time and fully live your past, present, (and) future.

There are a lot of words in this new release...but sometimes you just gotta make your mark with something more visual. Time to get your Grunge Grid on and make art!

Have a closer look at these - and my entire stamp collection - here.

Stamp Heaven

I am a sucker for a rubber stamp. Those of you who know me might guess correctly that my favorite type of stamp is one that is abstract, grungy and backgroundy (is that even a word?). In other words, a perfect addition to all things mixed-media. Whether used with ink, paint or embossing powders...stamping can add details, dimension, and depth to your work. Those of you looking for a bit of history about stamps can find it here. Those of you looking to make your mark can look here.

Since 2015 I have designed and produced closed to 50 stamp sets and a whole bunch of single stamps- which translates to several hundred-plus individual stamps. With so many releases, it is easy for older stamp sets to get lost. I hate to play favorites so I thought I would remind you all of my stamps - all of which are available in my online shop. Highlighted today are my designs with Impression Obsession.

Thanks for taking a look see.....

NEW Impression Obsession Stamp Sets

Today I am thrilled to bring you three new stamp sets from Impression Obsession to go along with the two new sets I recently released in December.

All five sets will be featured at Creativation, the annual trade show for AFCI (the Association for Creative Industries) later this month in Phoenix.

My first two sets of new releases are also my first dedicated to the planner trend that is hot, hot, hot. After working last year on my ARTifact project, where I documented every day of my life in art, I decided to design stamps that I would want to use if I were to ever do that again.

Both of these sets were designed with planners/journals/traveler's notebooks in mind. But they would work well in mixed media art, mail art, and scrapbooking too

------------------------

I am also happy to be releasing my third set of Journal Jargon words. Don't tell sets one and two, but I think this is my favorite.

This set of 18 words, created in a vintage-typewritten font, are perfect for art journaling, mixed media, card making, scrapbooking and more. They are deeply-etched, cling-backed red rubber and all the words are pre-cut so you can open the package and stamp immediately. Here are sets one and two.

------------------------

And from December, here are Sticks & Stones - my first set of mini border stamps - and Post Office - the start of my collection of mail art stamps.

All of my new sets will be available soon at many online outlets and art/craft shops but are shipping now from my online shop and will soon be uploaded to the Impression Obsession website.

Mail Call - new stamp set

Thrilled to have just released 2 new stamp sets with Impression Obsession

One of the sets is called Post Office. I designed this set of 5 mail art stamps after completing a year-long art collaboration with 3 other artists in 2017. In addition to our art, we decorated and embellished our envelopes as well. Finding a need for some grungy, mixed-media-style postal stamps, I designed this set.

One of the exiting things about designing your own products is the chance to create artwork using them when they first arrive from production. And what better thing to create with these stamps then some mail art.

All IO stamps are deeply-etched, cling-backed red rubber. Both of my new sets will be available soon at many online outlets and art/craft shops but can be ordered now the Impression Obsession website, or directly from my online shop
