Faux Dough

I am always looking for unique and creative art projects, so I jumped at the chance to create "faux dough" as part of one of my Yahoo art groups. These 4 and 6 dollar bills were made using coldpress watercolor paper, acrylic paints, dye inks, rubber stamps, rubons, and rusty, found metal washers. Click images to enlarge. Any artist out there accepting faux dough as payment for art???

Well..with the way the dollar is heading, you may want to send copies of these off to the Denver Mint....several financial wheel types are reporting we will need a new currancy soon.

(They look great!)

These are fantastic. Good luck in trying to find someone who will accept them as payment ;o)(P.S. If you find anyone let me know.)

Very good looking faux money!
Just what we need in the new economy...the more kinds the better. Now if we can just get the gas station and the grocery stores to accept them!!! ;-)

I would keep some of that in my wallet! It's gorgeous for being a knock-off version of the green stuff, heh!

Hey, great idea! We could have an international art/currency exchange. You know, there's a famous art bar in Toronto, Canada, called The Cameron and during the 1980's (I think it was then), artists would use some kind of art money to purchase drinks. I don't know the ins and outs of how it worked but it sounded interesting, especially when I was a poor art student in the early 90's.

What a fabulous idea! These are worth way more than four and six dollars.

Check out this Wikipedia entry about JSG Boggs, an artist from Florida.

I love the way you use the washers on these bills! Unfortunately, they looked better framed than spent!

Seth-I LOVE them. Do you EVER have inspiration(writer's)block? Doubt it. I've wrote in before as "anonymous"-on 7/30/08-you wrote back asking for "anonymous" to write back, but something came up in my family, and I wasn't able to even go online for a few weeks. I was the person congratulating you on winning some beautiful papers and told you my home had burned down and was starting over-COMPLETELY. You wrote in your article you'd like to try to get some people to send something in(I'm paraphrasing)because you couldn't imagine something like that happening to you. Ring any bells? Anyway I'm gonna try to do the faux dough-I do have some washers! Keep sending out the coolest inspiration!!!
