Earth Day 2009

Earth Day is held every year on April 22 to celebrate the modern environmental movement which began in 1970. Earth Day is a worldwide event that supports ongoing environmental education, action and change. The activities on Earth Day provide people with the opportunity to address their local environmental problems. The artwork in this post is older (2007 and 2008) but I thought very apropos to the message of the day.

I didn't realise this was Earth Day. Guess I should get out in the garden and get my hand covered in earth then ;o)

It's not listed on my calendar - I will celebrate in the garden today also - if it doesn't rain again!!!
I like your Earth Day art- it seems a couple of years ago, you were into a brighter 'palette" - or maybe that was just this particular project?

Great post Seth. I see you contributing to the Good Earth by reaching out to so many artists. I wonder how many artists it would take, hand in hand, to circle the globe? Happy Earth Day to you.

HAPPY (I actually did happen to know it's) EARTH DAY. Seth, this colorful "you" is so infused and gorgeous -- so enamored of it!

I remember waaa-aa-y back in the 1970's, when Earth Day was new and on everyone's radar. Planted "people's gardens" --- now they are calling that Guerilla Gardening!
We try to celebrate Earth Day every day around Villa Wafers - I have been doing a lot of kithchen garden prep the past few days but had a day of unexpected accidents yesterday, and decided maybe today will best be spent neither paving nor preparing! But the windows are flung wide --- until the next storm anyhow, and the music is blasting!

gorgeous, seth! i love both of those pieces mucho!

i love earth day. this year we spent a huge amount of time out in our yard, spicing it up a bit for spring, then decided to take some of the random pieces of lovely bark and wood, etc. to each paint something on while incorporating other bits of what others would consider to be yard debris. we'll be hanging them on our fence for our new "family yard gallery" and start new pieces each year on earth day.

happy day after earth day!

Hi, Seth. I would email you, but gmail isn't working so far tonight. But I just had to tell you that, just by virtue of being part of your disintegration project, I get so much traffic I wouldn't otherwise get! You are a man of influence!

Can I get tickets to Elton John?

What a beautiful and fitting tribute to Earth Day. I love the colors, the images, and your continued support of an eco-friendly environment.

I remember the 4th grade and the first earth day. It was part of our new science unit called "ecology" and I went around telling everyone in my family not to litter. And I still see litter. Earth Day makes me sad - a good kind of sad. A needful one. Happy Earth day everyday :)
