In Disguise

Alicia from Altered Bits is at it again. She just published her third eZine, this time with the theme of Black & White. Click here to be taken both to the current issue and to the links to her previous issues as well. Thank you Alicia for including my own artwork in your incredible, online publication. Click image to enlarge.

My piece in the zine, entitled "In Disguise", is one of my contributions to the ongoing collaborative project I am involved in with Viv and Steph. I recently posted about this collaboration, which we call Self Contained, in this post. And it seemed from the comments that many of you were curious about the details of this project. We are keeping the specifics under wraps for now.

But I can tell you that each of us created very distinct structures and that we are all working on every inch of the projects, including on top of anybody else's work. A true collaborative effort. So while "In Disguise" is 100% my own work, when I see it next...it may be completely different. This has certainly been an exciting, challenging, and invigorating project! Stay tuned for more!

Handbook...

When I was making my book in Judy's workshop, I spent a good deal of time thinking about how I wanted to fill the pages. As my hands were cutting book board, sewing signatures, aging paper, wrapping velvet, and being coated with layers of glue, I was once again amazed by the tools that I was using to create my book. And by tools...I mean hands! And with that thought, in that moment... Handbook was born.

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you know how much I am fascinated by hands. You can read this to see what I mean!

I am spending a lot of time on this book, with all the pages evolving organically and in their own time. Still working on the cover, which will be revealed when the book is complete. But for now, here is a glimpse (as always, click images to enlarge for detail)...

And here is how the book is shaping up...

And to give you an idea of the inside, here is a completed page...

More to come soon!

Book...in brief

So many projects. So little time. I have been working away on the book that I created in my recent workshop with Judy Wilkenfeld. You can read more about my experience in the class in this post.

I completed the book structure during the workshop and had just started to add to the pages when we ran out of time. I have been thoroughly enjoying the continuation of this process since I have been home.

Just a few glances at what I have been up to in this book. More to follow in the coming weeks. Then all will be revealed.

Contained & Unrestrained

Among the many collaborations I am involved with right now includes my project with Vivian Bonder and Stephanie McAtee. It is called Self Contained and we have just completed one round out of three. The brief: raw, grungy, rough, deep, messy, personal. We have each interpreted this theme quite differently and have created three very distinct structures to work in.

Here are some glimpses of my work so far that I just completed for Viv:

Steph and Viv have each worked in my project once so far and will add more artwork in two additional rounds. I just received my own project back and am over the top happy with what they have created so far. Their work keeps drawing me back in.

Some details of Steph's artwork in my project:

And here are some closeups of what Viv has added:
