A Traveler's Digest

Whenever I travel, I like to create a visual journal that acts as a repository for all my memories;  a book that I can flip through at any time and be brought right back into the thick of the adventure. I try to journal at some point on each day of all my trips, while the experience is fresh in my mind.

A few of my travel journals, filled with memories...

And my newest journal, which itself went on a journey from here...

to here...

London and Prague

A glimpse of what is inside...

I have created a slideshow of each and every page from this journal which can be seen at
Create Mixed Media.

You can read more about my journal-making process on Bridgette Guerzon Mills' wonderful site amanobooks in this interview from 2009.

These are all wonderful Seth. I love your use of old black photo albums from an earlier era. I have a few of those filled with old family photos...Dad's born in 1900.
I like your humor in them too.
Exciting travels!

Seth, it's great Sunday morning yum to look through your pages. I'm so glad you are sharing them with us. I aspire to this kind of dedication and discipline and craft. What a great way to preserve your experience and to share it with others.

I did join the journal group, as you recommended. I am aiming toward sharing my own pages.

Love those! I've seen a number of travel journals but love the format and designs you've used. Now, how do you narrow down the photos to use? ;-)

I love looking at journals, travel, daily...all of them. Do you create loose pages as you travel and compile your jouranls when you get home?

just curious :)

I just listened about Mark Twain being considered a great travel writer. Could be a perfect journaling experience for art and writing.

Wait - I get it! The belt buckle is the reminder from when the TSA gave you your patdown. Ah, the joys of flying....
Nice work. Take me with you next time.

Wonderful books Seth! And so precious packed with memories! I'm not much of a traveler (anymore) but I know the joy of journaling the journey. It almost makes me want to travel again - just for the opportunity to make a journal out of it...!

OMG.
Stunning.
I strongly suggest that you send them all to me for my birthday which is not for MONTHS but entirely beside the point.

I really enjoyed seeing your journals. I keep travel journals too (not as beautiful sadly) so you've definitely given me some inspiration for making them more unique. Thank you!

I always love seeing your travel journals. They look like they came from the travels of someone doing the Grand Tour.
