Welcome to the 5th edition of The Pulse -- The State of the Art -- a survey in words and pictures of the online artist community. The Pulse is a collaborative project that aims to introduce you to new artists, help you get to know familiar faces even more, and allow you access into the creative hearts and minds of a very talented crew of individuals. More than 130 artists have answered a series of questions which make up The Pulse. Their responses will be presented in a series of online posts which will run every Sunday.
Style File, Techniques & Tools, and Master Class were the first three projects posted and links to all these posts can be found on the sidebar of my blog. The fourth project, It's Still Life, continues now...
Participants were asked to photograph a still life that you create using an array of objects.

Theresa's collection of backlit pen's, here, creates an amazing visual statement! I love it! I find it interesting that a number of submissions to "It's Still Life" have, like Theresa, taken one kind of object (be it pens, or stones, or books, or paint brushes, or circular pieces of metal), and created unusual and imaginative arrangements, by limiting the type of objects used in their still life compositions.
I am also very drawn to the wonderful simplicity, and compositional sense that Jeanie has created in her still life. Great use of textural variety (smooth balls/textured background), with the addition of striking light and shadow complimenting her arrangement.
More eye-inspiration, this week, Seth!
Love seeing these Seth, and of course, thanks for including mine.
Such lovely eye candy and compositions for thought, seeing how all interpret the same theme so differently.
XXOO~~

Big Thanks for including me Seth! I'd forgotten about this....Loving your book BTW!
Wow! I was going to try to pick a favorite, but I cannot. They are all...each one, unique and quite wonderful to behold. Great art!
Robert, thanks so much. I really loved composing that shot. In fact that photo inspired a series of steel wall pieces....so a big thanks to Seth for the survey.
Diverse and delightful Seth. Some old friends there but some newbies too. Thanks.
Great ideas - love all the different interpretations of the still life

These are very creative and it's SO interesting to see the different ideas. Thank you of course for including mine, too.
All so unique and personal. My favorite is the 3 metal spheres in front of the concrete . . spheres . . yum!
Wow. I had forgotten what I sent you. Thanks for including it! I love all of the unique interpretations everyone sends. I especially love all of the color in the first one by Theresa. Everyone's is truly interesting.
