Eight years ago today I started this blog. In some ways, that was also the first day of my life as an artist. I have always said, and continue to believe, that without the opportunities that being online has brought, I would not be where I am today. Through this blog and my other online sites, I feel that I am a part of a community of people who get it. Who get me. And that has made all the difference in the world.
These past years have brought both spectacular moments and difficult challenges. As with everybody else, there have been ups and downs. Throughout it all has been the consistent and strong support that all of you have given me. I feel so fortunate to have made the connections I have, both online and IRL.
I have much to celebrate, particularly this year. I get to travel all over, teaching workshops to creative souls - all of whom I get to learn from as well. I continue to be able to showcase my art - online and in galleries, books and magazines. And with my ongoing line of stencils with StencilGirl Products, my first collection of rubber stamps with Impression Obsession, and my upcoming line of mixed media products with Spellbinders Creative Arts, I feel like I am about to enter into another thrilling chapter of my life.

The first time I participated in one of your collaborations many years ago, and I was exposed to other mixed media artists, my art life finally fell into place. Before that I was adrift. Then you set me on course, and I realized I'm not alone in this mixed media world.

Seth, my first contact with you was reading about your "disintegrating bundle". I ended up with several of those bundles hanging from trees around our property. At that point I was hooked on the Seth Apter way of seeing possibilities in everything.

Wow - 8 years.... that's incredible Seth. As you know... I am a relative newbie follower of yours. I have only been a blogger for approx. ten months but I have spent a lot of time every day... watching, listening, learning, commenting, posting, creating. I have met a lot of people... thru my blogging.
And then there was you Seth. You are a horse of a different color. YOU ARE... and you would want us to choose whatever color that might be... because that's how you make us all feel. You encourage individuality. You encourage freedom. You encourage even our worse efforts. You inspire.

I too have only been following your blog for a couple of years, since I restarted my creative life after a huge prompt from my best friend who suggested a few blogs to help me get started.
Just reading the blogs, and joining in paper swaps and the like has allowed me to feel part of a creative and artistic community. Some of the value of this wonderful technology lies in being to access at all times of the day and night rather than turning up one afternoon a week to communicate with others.
