True Colors - The Giveaway

I hope you have enjoyed seeing True Colors through the eyes of the creators. I have never dedicated so many posts on so many days to a single topic before. But to me, True Colors is worthy of the stage. The project, the book, and the participants all represent a moment in time that was original, unique, and endlessly inspiring. I thank all the artists for trusting me and allowing me to share with you all their personal thoughts and reflections.

True Colors: A Palette of Collaborative Art Journals

Before The Altered Page moves on however, I would like to give you the opportunity to experience True Colors first hand. And that means a giveaway! I have one copy of the book to offer to one lucky reader. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post by the end of day on Saturday May 22. I will announce the winner Sunday May 23, when The Book Guild returns to its regularly scheduled programming. And make sure to stop by next Sunday for the opportunity to win one of two books in a whole new Book Guild giveaway.  See you there!

I have to add my "Thanks" as well. Loved reading the comments almost as much as the posts.
If there's ever TRUE COLORS, THE UNPUBLISHED PAGES, I think that we can feel confident that you all played a part in the forward movement!
Thanks again Seth.

This is a truly a wonderful series. In some ways, it's been like Christmas time-looking in at all of the magnificent windows at Lord and Taylors in NYC. Each window- like each of your posts - are all unique and magical- and seem to come to life before your very eyes! Thanks for this terrific look into the very special life of True Colors, the artists that made it such a rare and unique book - providing such unending inspiration for all! Thanks Seth!

I enjoyed "True Colors" so much, that I had it coil bound! I have several story boards with pictures of colors and color combinations inspired by artists' works in the book, and little quote-lets on handmade post-its, with page numbers as reference. Inspiration on so many levels, and delight at all. Thanks to all artists who shared such private and intimate art.

SETH! You are so fabulous.
I've been following along. You know it's very hard for me not to comment every time!! But, I tend to over-saturate everyone, so now I'm growing and changing! Just like True Colors! Because you know it's so interesting to read people's thoughts about it and to hear from the artists after the intervening time. It puts a new perspective on it for me. And I really look forward to the second volume, because I know some smart publisher is going to grab it up... Stampington?

Seth, don't put my name in for the giveaway, as I have one, and I know how much someone else will love it. But isn't it interesting how people who never comment suddenly leave comments? It's so cool! I would never think of not mouthing off at every opportunity!

I also look forward to the return of the Book Guild.

Am I still talking?

Hi Seth what a great giveaway. talk about inspiration. True colors is a truly wonderful book and if I win I will give it to a friend of mine who would really love it.
I hope someday Somerset can publish the remaining art work in a second book.

I just received my copy in today's mail so don't need to be part of the drawing.

After spending all afternoon with True Colors I think I'd much prefer to see a virtual copy of one of the books in its entirety rather than another book of photos of individual pages from the books. All of the artists talk about the experience of looking thru each individual book as being what was most special.

Last year I saw in a museum a virtual copy of a book by Reverdy that had been illustrated by Picasso and felt as though I was experiencing the real book so I know this can be done.

Thank you for this series, it has been a lot of fun getting a "look behind the stage". I rec'd my copy about two weeks ago and have only scratched the surface... it is thick, heavy, and LOADED with great pictures... I love the fact that so much commentary about the making and relationships draws the reader in to the collaborative experience... can't wait to lounge a bit later this summer and really take it in.
