Finders Keepers

He kept count. If asked, he would have said the number was more than 1,000. But in fact it was 878. When he discovered that, he smiled because there was something about that number that he found soothing. Maybe it was because it is a palindrome. Hmmmm...palindrome. What a funny word he thought. Sounds more like an exotic insect. Or a geometric figure.

Now it was time to look for number 879. Picturing his search, he thought of that saying that he had first heard as a child: finders keepers, losers weepers. No weeping for him. Today he was going to be a finder.

They're all good, but if I had a choice I'd pick the bottom one. It seems more balanced to my eye.

i took this to be one piece with the top 2 shots as closeups. :D

like it, great treatment of blues. and love the 'story' behind it.

This one reminds me of your "espresso" series which I also loved! And the text accompanying the painting was appropriately intriguing. But I'm kind of a "text" guy, as you may have noticed!

I echo Gina here.

The words PALINDROME and PALIMPSEST have always fascinated me, the latter from my teenage days, trundling round rural villages on a pushbike to make brass rubbings in churches, where this was allowed. Link here...

I just love this Finders Keepers piece and the journey you took me on to read and explore what you've created! Brilliant! Another super Text Tile work- filled with all my very favorite techniques of yours- layers and layers, text popping up with the words you've chosen, texture, scratches, symbols and of course- that super teal!

Love this piece Seth. One of my fav colors and the layers look so rich. The text, and, of course, your story just add to it! You're inspiring me...I have these little scraps of plywood I should play with...
Thanks for the inspiration

Haven't been in this neck of the woods for a while...but here I am and loving the news that your studio is in CPS! Great stuff, Seth. As a matter of fact, I was around at an artist friend's place the other day and I happened upon Artful Blogger 2008. You were in there. Nice! And you'd just started thinking about your hand series. ANYWAY, CONGRATS AND NICE WORK HERE!

Holy cow. I missed this post and it was sold before I ever got here. Good for you. Palindrome is one of my favorite words. I call my friend Bob my palindrome pal. This is simply gorgeous and love the background. Of course, the story is pretty decent, too.

oh Seth, your stories are always so enticing, and mysterious, but so human as well, like when we think out loud to ourselves. Beautiful piece! roxanne
