As an artist I of course love to make art. But I also absolutely love art from other artists as well and every so often I give in to that temptation. This year I have splurged. I took the plunge and double dipped. These two babies now belong to me!
Timanfaya #3
This beautiful piece was made by Rebecca Crowell and actually includes volcanic sand from the Canary Islands off the coast of Africa. Rebecca is an artist I have been following for several years. I have been waiting for just the right painting to purchase and it was finally born in January 2010. Be sure to stop by Rebecca's blog as she has written a fascinating post about the joy of knowing where your artwork ends up after you send it out into the world.

This wonderful artwork was made by John Borrero. I had originally met John at the One of the Kind Show, which I had posted about here. John creates the most amazing mixed media sculptures but has recently opened up an Etsy shop which showcases his small paintings.

Wonderful pieces Seth! I have enjoyed John's work for a while now I found him via Tumblr. I had not seen Rebecca's work before. Wonderful shtuff. Thank you for sharing!
Both are very nice! I too enjoy collecting, as well as making art. I have a modest collecting budget, but have been very fortunate to get some great artwork sometimes by trade.
Lucky you!! I LOVE Rebecca's work. Hope to do a workshop with her (planning on starting a large piece today with oil and cold wax). And John . . I had come across it in my web travels and posted on tumblr...amazing. Just found Armondro Pedroso...yummy! I, too like to look (web) . . probably too much . . altho learning a lot what I want to bring to my work.
Thanks for posting!
Wonderful! As artists, we can be rich in art!

a high score on these two pieces Seth - both of them are just wonderful and I love how their esthetic is so very close to your own work! xo
I'm not surprised you were tempted.

I love the strength exhibited inthese works with the use of such ethereal color palettes... wonderful pieces so enjoy. Happy Worm Moon...wasn't it breathtaking last night? I can only imagine how beautiful New York city was bathed in pure light. My friend's daughter will be interning with Vera Wang this summer...my words cannot express how happy I am for Kelsey!!! Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
So funny, I dreamt last night that I bought MY first piece of original art, an enormous mixed media piece I saw in Barcelona about 4 years ago. Hmmm, maybe I'll look for something smaller and more local. These pieces are stunners, I can see why you gave in.
These pieces are both amazing creations. The yellow/gold and black in John Borrero painting, like a landscape from a dream. And Rebecca's subtle browns, ahhh Seth, you must just gaze at them for hours! You have inspired me this morning...Roxanne
Hi Seth, how wonderful that you have acquired a piece of Rebecca's work. She is a good friend and when she visits Santa Fe in July I will proudly show her my 2 Seth Apter sculptures!
I love these! Really love them. A lucky dipper always likes to double dip:)
These are wonderful. Thank you for sharing. Abstract art has magical powers. It envelopes and engages the soul of both the artist and the observer.
