A Podcast is Born

'What...you want me to talk about myself...for an hour???' That was my first thought when the amazingly wonderful Rice Freeman-Zachery asked me to do a podcast with her. Of course I didn't tell her that. I just said yes. Now that I have completed the interview, I am surprised at just how much she got out of me. And if you decide to listen, I promise after the first five minutes I stop most of the 'umming'

If you press play, you will learn more about: the origin of my blog, my collaborative projects, my day job, why there are not more men in the mixed media community, how I initially became an artist, my foray into mail art, my passion for bookmaking, making travel journals, my upcoming book, living in New York City, my studio space, free must-see art happenings to see when visiting NYC, how to deal with the intimidation factor of art galleries, why making art expressively for publication is not always a great idea, my leap into Facebook and (soon) Twitter, why I haven't taught a workshop yet, where I see myself in 5 years, and my role in the upcoming Exquisite Corpse Festival in NYC.

You can hear the entire podcast on Rice's blog, Notes from the Voodoo Lounge.

Just finished listening to your podcast with Rice and was totally in awe of all that you've done, are involved with and your plans for the future. Rice has such a great style of interviewing which lends itself to such a fun packed podcast of varied info. Loved the story of how you began your interest in art, your travel journal "how to" and your spirit of collaboration to add community to the "solo" act of creating art. Thanks so much for sharing all that you've revealed and I look forward to hearing more about your Exquisite corpse project, it's exhibit and of course- a future solo exhibit of your own!

I finally got some time to listen to your pod cast. I enjoyed hearing your voice and learning so much more about you! Was fun to learn that we are in the same field professionally. I'm an LMFT.
Also to learn when your book will be out! Enjoyed hearing how you got started in art! Funny how just going into one gallery, talking to one person can change a persons life is such an exciting way! So glad you did!

that was such a magnificent podcast, seth! thank you so very much for sharing! it's so great to finally put a voice to the face and art.

when you aren't totally busy, i can tell you how to "cheat" and make your blogs, facebook and twitter all reflect each other without you having to do a thing. ;) it will just look like you tweet regularly, and such.
