Your Blog, Your Way: Part 4

It is time for the fourth installment in my series 'Your Blog, Your Way' on Create Mixed Media. YBYW is designed to help you create a blog that is authentic to you but at the same time attracts a large readership. The theme for today's post is Community -- what it is and how to develop it.

And speaking of community...I am widening mine by creating an eNewsletter which will magically appear in your inbox. It will bring information to you about my upcoming book 'The Pulse of Mixed Media' from North Light Books, along with highlights of my artwork, publications, exhibitions, and Etsy shop. You can sign up for my mailing list on the sidebar of this blog or by clicking here.

Ann's comment made me laugh :o) I like your blog tips series and one day when I'm grown up and have a proper blog I'm going to follow this advice! You certainly have created a fabulous community over here.

I am following this series and taking notes, Seth. Making my blog better, and trying to be more "in the community" is part of my goals this year. Thanks for this.

On that note... Everyone: stop on by and leave a comment, say "Hi"! I'd like to meet you!!

I went to the mixed media spot but could not leave a comment there so I'll do it here. Thanks for the tips. I like the one about a special day to show progress in an art piece I am working on. Even though I do it from time to time already I don't have a designated day for doing so.
I do try to ask questions and probably should do that more often. I think it makes the post more of a conversation and draws people out in the comment section more. Not sure I have time to start highlighting other artists blogs other than perhaps to mention one I like once in a while. And not sure I can handle making a much larger community for myself. I have trouble keeping up with a long list of blogs I like to visit now. Do all of them visit mine? Not sure. Some send personal emails in response to a comment to them; some visit and leave a comment on the blog. I'm happy with my smallish group of blog friends I've established over the few years I have been doing this.

I, for one am shooting for a very small readership and so far I've been highly successful. Ask my advice any time.

Wonderful article on more Cs for helpful tips to create a better blog. Love the thoughts about a certain day to highlight works of art in progress and having themes in mind. Great post again Seth! I think you should get your very own zip code since you have created a whole community with more people than many cities have inhabitants!

Hi Seth,
Before I read the post on Community, I had posted a picture I took of your assemblage piece, Fides on my post for yesterday. Excellent timing with the message of YBYW#4. Your series is really helpful in getting me to think about why I am blogging and how to do it better.

Fides sends me good blessings each time I pass by and as I sleep. Lovely packaging as well!
