Are you Board Yet?

I think it is clear from my Inspiration Board in the previous post that organization and order is important to me. As Michelle from 3rd Eye Muse commented...I have "grid-like tendencies." However, wanting to give equal time to both extremes of my creative side, I offer you an unretouched glimpse of one of my work tables. Hmmm. Sometimes chaos reigns supreme!

Thanks to all those who commented on my Inspiration Board and shared a link to one of your own. If you haven't yet visited them...click the following:

And if you would like to share your own Inspiration Board (or file or box or wall or basket or shelf), please leave a comment and add a link to your photo! Who cannot do with a little extra inspiration?!

Here's mine from a little whiles back. It's a WIP of something but the inspiration boards are all over the background and have little notes as to what they all are. Crazy!

Mine, not so organized. :D

I love your inspiration boards Seth, I have one two but like all of my work it has many layers and is in much need of a clean up. I think I might have to use yours for inspiration.

Thank you for your honest photo of your supreme chaos....it made me smile as I am getting ready to add photos to my blog space of my progress in clearing the deck and purging. Wish me luck dear friend! Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

So glad to see this other side of you. Now you are more healthy~ (In my estimation) as mess = creativity is happening THERE!
Of course we already KNEW that~
;-)
I just "cleaned up" my BIG mess after completing the last art quilt...DH said, where's the clean?
It's hard to tell in my studio, as bags are filled with threads and fabrics, they fall out of cupboards onto the floor and the table, well one never really sees bottom there. You see "CREATIVITY" IS GROWING LIKE MOLD UNDER IT ALL JUST WAITING TO SRPING TO LIFE~ One must appreciate a good MESS~
I know I do!

Your 'mess' looks great and it makes me happy to think I am not alone in that sort of 'creative expression'!

Glad to see too that I made it onto your inspiration board! A fine canvas indeed!

After looking at your table of chaos I turned to look at mine...and I think I would be too embarrassed to post a photograph. Add 2 more layers of papers and books to your table and you might have an inkling of mine.

oh no....that table of yours gave me a little bit of a rash.

Board yet? Never. Seth, impossible when you're at the helm. I took a few shots of my studio a few months also, but haven't got the guts to go into studio porn yet (have you seen Teesha's studio? from Teesha's Circus?) Now that's true studio porn. It'll have you salivating from each corner of your mouth!

wow, how odd for me to see someone who seems to be alot like me. I love order, balance and grids yet my work table most often looks just like this. If it's all neat and clean, I can't work... yet if it's covered, I can't work either. Always searching for the right balance... in everything!

Love your blog, and your inspiration boards, even your messy worktable. I will have to blog about my inspiration board- it is messy but my worktable is neat. Go figure.

I'm feeling right at home here Seth :)

Love your "inspiration boards" too, more like mini gallery walls.

Now THAT'S a desk! Glad to see you're a fan off the chaos theory too!! :o)

Being a libra I'm all about balance so your chaos v organization appeals to me very much. Look at all those beautiful tubes and paint splashes. Wonderful!

Thanks for sharing! I was wondering how you made such great art with such a perfect and tidy board! I see the Goddess Chaos hangs out at your place too!

Oh Seth - that work table drives me mad just to look at it. I can only work in complete tidiness - clutter drives me into distraction. Maybe that is what is wrong with my work!!

Chris said...

Oh, I took my board down to revamp my studio and my studio is still in flux! Love these candid photos. Thanks so much for the links.

grid like tendencies... yes!

Hi Seth, THanks for the links! I had a wonderful time "visiting." My board is in process...trying to switch art spaces while still teaching was not my smartest idea. However, two more days to go! RIght now, I have a bunch of "inspiration" in various vintage cheese boxes. I've also framed some of my favorite postcard mail art (in a grid formation!) in my dining room. THey're the subject of much conversation! Just saw that your travel journals will be on amano books next week; looking forward to seeing them.

oh WHEW.
I was getting a little worried that your Mad Skills wouldn't permit a crazy mess. Now this, THIS makes me leap out of my chair and drag my arm across my forehead with relief.

Thanks for the Plug. I shoulda posted a NEW photo. Duh.

Seth! I love the shot as well! It is great to see your progression with this. It is neat to see some things stay. I must say you inspire me in many ways. I am inspired to start an inspiration board, hm is that redundant?

Jeane Myers said...

hmmmmm - funny how this represents your art also - definitely two sides to the coin! :)

And there's no way you're seeing my work table - I have a reputation as an organized person -but this is only because no one has seen my work table!!

Seth, as I suggested I would do, I managed to get my camera over to the office, take pictures, and bring the camera back and download the pictures. Whew! THAT's how important your projects are to me! You rock!

Anyway, my inspiration walls are up at my blog, now.

I love looking at everyone else's! I'm such a voyeur...

Thankyou for visiting my blog Seth - I am slightly overawed by your kind comment as I only 'play' at art. Your work table gives me great comfort! When the force is with you there is no time to be tidy is there?

Marilyn said...

Hahaha. Looks familiar!!

azirca said...

Now that's one big inspiration hit! Thanks Seth and all other folks who posted photos of their inspiration boards.

Margaret said...

ha! I bet you got right on and tidied up that little lot after you photographed it..lol..! I do believe creativity often comes from chaos, it kind of gives things a chance to bounce off each other in a way they can't when they're all stashed away, well that's my rule and I'm sticking to it!
