Combo Platter

Weeks of rain in NYC. Following a thunder clapping, sky blackening, torrential downpour last night, the sky turned golden and then hot pink. Pictured above is an unretouched shot of the beautiful moment.

I was lucky enough to have recently met Sarah Fishburn. Sarah and some of her family are on a whirlwind road trip all over the United States. We spent an afternoon together wandering around NYC. Turns out Sarah is as warm, friendly, and humorous as she is talented, creative, and generous. And what a great family too! Sarah wanted me to send a shout out to everybody and let you know that she will be home and back to blogging very soon!

If you liked the journal pages of Barron Storey that I recently highlighted here, head over to Kelly Kilmer's blog to learn a lot more about Barron, his art, and his publications. Thanks for all the info Kelly!

A long overdue thank you to Lynn from Getting my Feet Wet who passed along the Uplifting Blogger Award to me a while back. Thanks Lynn!

And a more timely thank you also goes out to Pat from Artfully Ooglebloops for passing the Kreativ Blogger award on to The Altered Page.

I also have to thank Pat for posting about the Glidden National Paint Giveaway. Click here to be taken to their site and sign up to receive a free quart of paint in your choice of color! Thanks for the tip Pat!!

Yes, the sky. I love looking up at it. Reminds me of how large the world is yet how we are all together under it. I really like the rubon letters you use. The up close textures of the Shattered Glass piece is extra rich. - Jeanne

Just love that sky. No rain here for weeks. I am waiting. (I know - this is England!) Huge towering clouds rolled past yesterday like trains that were never going to stop here.

A great sky - on long island my wife mentioned the sky that night and I also went out and photographed it. Yesterday a friend mentioned he had been in the village Friday night and was amazed by the sky. I finally see it now - great and untouched.

Too much rain, huh.

Regards....

That pink shot of NY after the storm is beautiful, Seth - Elizabeth of About New York posted a similar one - the effect of that light on the buildings must have been spectacular. Thank goodness for digital photography I say.

Hi Seth. You're so right, I just love your new piece. You've captured shattered glass so beautifully and I can so relate!! I am really going to enjoy working in your book as the feelings are still so raw.

You got a shot of that sky, too! I ran out to get some of my own when I peaked out my window and saw those clouds the other night. Mammatus clouds, they're called. I posted mine on my blog the other night. http://dreamwiththefishes.blogspot.com/2009/06/mammatus-clouds.html Did you catch that double rainbow, yesterday? I was thrilled that I had my camera with me for that one, too. Posted that one last night.

Your writings are so inspiring and I am attempting to integrate my disintegration process. The garden has changed drastically and the day lilies that have not been nibbled on by my "pet" deer are like paint brushes dotting my small intimate landscape outside the back door. I ordered some new materials today for photo transfers and hope to explore the layering of images and written words. Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

The other night, CNN had a report on "your" clouds in NY! They interviewed alot of people around the city, some who were just struck by the beauty - some who likened it to a movie about alien invasion!!Several people actually "saw" Michael Jackson's face in the cloud formations- that was shown on TV!!! The meteorologist said the clouds are called Mammatus clouds. They show up after serious storms. Just thought you would enjoy this little FYI!!!

Your shot of that sky is amazing! We had too many trees in the way to get it but I was amazed by the red and pink cast everything took on that evening, too - beautiful.
Thank you so much for highlighting the Barron Storey exhibition - it truly looks amazing. I will definitely try to make it in and see it. I think it would be a good b-day activity for me :)
Congrats on the awards!!

(Also loved seeing your graffiti wall work and how you're approaching it - brick by brick. So different than Lynne's taking apart approach now!)
