To this end, I was invited by Allie Gower to share my thoughts and artwork in her article Blurred Lines on the Scrap n'Art online magazine.
It begins "I am all about blurred lines when it comes to bridging the gap between different creatives..." The remainder of the article can be seen in the current January 2014 issue. It is available to subscribers only but Allie was extra generous and has provided 10 one-year subscriptions for me to give away.

It would be really fantastic to have an online art mag to read on my new iPad! I agree, the lines are blurring. I remember trying to talk a scrap booking store into embracing products that leaned towards mixed media in 2004. She thought I was nuts. Now it's the norm. Go figure!

I love 'blurred lines'. I believe creating in ANY form is art - no matter what medium or talent you feel. It all adds a positive aspect to our world. Why differentiate? That only comes from a place of insecurity IMHO. Art is art. :)
I think that there is a lot to learn from one another. In my book artists' group (we make handmade artist books) we have members from 7 different backgrounds and I think that's what adds to the richness of our group. One is a miniature artist, one a ceramicist, one a photographer, one an oil painter, one started out making stamps from linoleum blocks, one a collage artist, one is a scrapbooker. We have all come together to make artist books yet continue in our other areas of interest which we also use in making our books. I have learned so much from these women and are so thankful for the part they play in my creative journey. Thanks for the chance to win the online subscription. Yes!! That's what the joy of being an artist / creator is all about! I believe the process is much more enjoyable when there are people who reach out to encourage and HELP others and not stay within their own clique, so to speak. Being an artist is not for a few elite- everyone is an artist! The very fact that you are here is a manifestation of that. Don't be afraid to express what your uniqueness is. Thanks so much for offering this opportunity. I"m all about blurred lines - I think that all creatives - visual artists, musicians, etc -- can find ways to blur the lines between their different areas, just as visual artists should be able to work together even if their materials, styles, etc don't normally 'speak' to each other. There's room for collaboration in all things. Why can't we blur the lines?

There has always been a grey area between the many creative disciplines. I like 'crossover' work that encompasses a little of various techniques....rather like your stuff Seth.
I'm so anti-elitist when it comes to genres of art, styles of art, art practice, art sharing. I do cling to my elitism with regard to always wanting people to do the very best of whatever they do. To work at it. And when people strive for the best, the blurring of lines is even more important!

I love that you encourage blurring the lines. I'm a mixed media artist but didn't realize it at first. I was just an artist that also enjoyed scrap booking. The 2 worlds collided amongst my creativity and I went with it, I didn't worry about rules or lines or any standard definition of what Art was suppose to be. I just created. Thank you.

I totally agree. Art is so personal and what art is to one person, is not to another. I love to experiment with different mediums as well. I have not heard of that magazine but options are limited in the small city I live in. It sounds like the type of magazine I would enjoy and I would love to win.
I spent so many years (um...okay, decades) believing that because i can't draw or paint in the "traditional" sense, I had no right to consider myself artistic. It was so amazing and freeing and awesome when i finally began to realize that art is much bigger and far more inclusive than that. Art and creativity are for everyone, and we need talented people with generous spirits to remind us of that. Thanks for being one of them, Seth!
