Embossed

When I was at Creativation, the trade show for what was formerly called CHA (Craft & Hobby Association) but which I now called AFCI (Association for Creative Industries), I spent a good amount of time at both the Impression Obsession and the PaperArtsy booths. Smack in the middle of those spaces was Emerald Creek, a Canadian shop perhaps best known for their embossing powders.

Happily, I connected with the crew there and was able to bring home some embossing powders to try.

Happily, I can also say I was thoroughly pleased with the result. Some of the powders were fine and some were gritty and chunky. Bet you can't guess which I liked the best? I was fascinated by how quickly their powders melted. With many brands there comes a moment where I begin to think that the melting will never happen. But not so with Emerald Creek.

I decided to create a journal page using some of my new borders stamps with Impression Obsession as a way to create a reference for the samples that I had.

Some detail...

Salted Navy Enamel + Sticks rubber stamp

Fractured Ice + Chainlink rubber stamp

Weathered Wood + Colander rubber stamp

Hammered Metal + Donuts rubber stamp

Charred Gold + Crossing Guard rubber stamp

Onyx Frost + Drop Spots

You can learn more about Emerald Creek and their products in this video taken on the show floor:

I loved the Fractured Ice. I suspect you preferred the chunky embossing powder, since you love texture! It was all quite nice, though and I think you did a great review.

I am a huge fan of the Emerald Creek products. I have been on their design team for a while now. I am continually impressed with Kim and her drive. She listens to what people want and dies her best to make it happen. The embossing powders are a constant staple on my craft table. So happy you played with the powders and enjoyed them.

Kim and her team were so lovely and I fell in love with the Quarry gemstones. Now having seen the fractured ice it's a need! LOVE the way you tested them. Thank you for sharing x

I'm over come with gratitude. This was so much more then I ever thought would be done by another colleague/competitor. You truly stand out among the crowd and I am delighted you enjoyed the embossing powders. I can't wait to add your dies and stencils into the lineup of products. These borders are fantastic! Thank you so much! I can't wait to come your way, take a class and see the pieces you have created and visit the best sites. And one day if you head my way I will show you the best places to be inspired and unwind.

So glad you were able to try Kim's embossing powders Seth! As part of her design team I've been lucky enough to use them as well and adore them, especially the chunky textured powders, Hammered Metal and Burnt Copper Leaves are two of my personal favourites. Thanks so much for giving Kim this shout out, she's a dynamo and one of the sweetest people I've ever met, wonderful to see her mentioned here on your blog, thank you for your generosity ❤ Deb xo

Dang it Seth! I'm trying to save money here... lol. Of course, I'm a HUGE fan of embossing powder in mixed media, and these look amazing! I just ordered a bunch to play with, including Hammered Metal and Charred Gold (drool) and like 8 more. I can't wait to try these out! Thanks so much for sharing!
