31 artists...31 days. Spend every day of March with me at The Altered Page to meet the 31 spotlight artists in my book The Pulse of Mixed Media: Secrets and Passions of 100 Artists Revealed. See their beautiful faces, read their 'quirky' bios written in their own words, see some of their art that led me to invite them to be a part of my book, and hear my story of what they each mean to me. Then click on over to their sites and see what they have to say about The Pulse of Mixed Media.

After living in close proximity to VERY competent people from all walks of life, my goal as an artist is to do everything that I can to make people raise their right hand and swear to never take themselves or anybody else too seriously...and no, I'm NOT kidding.

In the dictionary, the phrase 'good people' is defined as:
Noun, 1. Lisa Hoffman
I met Lisa and her blog online way back in 2007. She was already one of my 'True Colors' heros when I started my blog and a few months later when I reached out to her to be part of my first online version of The Pulse. She couldn't have been more receptive, supportive, and genuinely nice. Since that time I have gotten to know her very well and my initial impressions have been solidified. Good people. Funny, warm, friendly, open, creative, talented, intelligent, positive, innovative, spirited, giving, tall. The list goes on and on. To know Lisa is really to love her.
I knew from the get go that I wanted and needed to have Lisa in my book. In addition to her wonderful art - unique and vibrant - I knew that she would bring some wit and humor to the pages as well. And when you read her contributions, she doesn't disappoint. We have tried on many occasions to actually meet in real life. Finally that will happen next month when I travel to her hometown in Colorado. Counting the days...

Seth,
I already like Lisa's humor and I haven't visited her blog yet. Her philosophy is right on. Can't wait to see more of her work and I'll be listening to Creative Mojo tomorrow!
Darlene
I am looking forward to getting to know all of the artists in your book.
Thanks for the chance for a giveaway.
вау! такие яркие работы!!!
It's really cool to see how this artistic community you have created has come together. I love the webs that tie us together in our creative tribes.
I was lucky enough to spend a few days with Lisa a couple of years ago. She made me feel very welcome and was a witty and warm host.
I have been enjoying her sense of humor through her blog ever since.
Love your goal as an artist!!! I hope you 'convert' everyone you meet. :)
what a terrific brand of humour and lightness.
Lisa is unique, funny, talented and honest. An outstanding person who I adore. Her art is upfront and honest as she is. Brilliant choice.
Another interesting artist - love the vibrant colours and, indeed, the humour. Off to explore Lisa's blog!
Seth, your description of Lisa is not only flattering, it as ALL TRUE. She is my favorite contributor to your book, her replies to your questions made me laugh out loud. Just yesterday we were on the phone reviewing some of the pages together and I was gasping for air as we giggled. Can't wait for you to finally meet her.
Lisa, I'm raising my right hand.
What a bright spirit Lisa is! thanks for introducing me to her really energetic work.
Love love love Lisa and her whole attitude and her contributions to the book and her snark and her wit and her accessibility.
So, there.
thanks for the intro, seth! just got back from her blog, and all i can say is 'fun' and 'funny'!
I like aqua! I also like Lisa's style. Thanks for including her.
Fun! I am off to visit her blog.
xoxo
Freshen and UP. cOOl breezes. A combo of styles. Marking my time till I can go to her blog.
Meeting in person will not disappoint either. Some of the best times I've had have been hanging out with Lisa. I totally agree with your list of adjectives. You will have a blast - remember not to take yourself too seriously!
Erin
i love her sense of humour.
What a fun blog and happy art Thank you Lisa
Wow! I love her creed. Crazy art, like the zetti style, for example, makes me happy. There is too much seriousness everywhere, and our art needs to reflect joy.
Love the irreverent (dare I say 'cheeky') nature of Lisa's blog! All of the 'cool stuff,' 'arty freshness,' and 'all that jazz' to be found there is simply TOO much! Love, also, her amazing sense of color. I WANT a pair of scissors that look like that!!! And. . .Lisa's various other needles, brushes, keys, pencils, hammers, screws, etc., etc., etc. are equally wonderful! It's easy to see from her 'mechanical pencil' self portrait from the book ("long may it not be discontinued"), that when she says ". . .all great ideas start with this.", that it is a subtle reference to the fact that her brain and her pencil are directly connected, and completely alligned! Thanks for introducing us to Lisa, Seth, and including her in your book! A breath of fresh air!
I almost didn't get back here to leave a comment. I was so busy over at Lisa's blog. Ohmigod there is so much to see and go to (links) and oggle over and want to touch, and and and...do and see and, well you get the picture, you laugh there too, she's very funny. Thanks for the intro...scuse me I need to get back there I was only on page one!
love your attitude Lisa! Love your style.
I'm just like Lynn above - I got so immersed in Lisa's blog, I almost forgot to come back here. What a delight! Love her style, her humor, her comments!
I met Lisa at a True Colors workshop in Santa Ana Ca, I like her right off, she gave a talk in the courtyard and I had a chance to speak with her a bit. I like her work and her ideas!
Deborah
I like how Lisa takes 'line' and does what she wants with it. And then takes 'colour' and does what she wants with it. So free. I'm looking forward to going to her blog for more views. That book looks pretty enticing! *smiles* Norma
Lisa is brilliant..... love that humour...and the 2x4's.
hugs
And now- here's Lisa! All the things you've said about Lisa are so true and she is such a talented writer in addition to her artwork. Her contributions to your book are bold brilliant and beautiful. Yes, I've decided that she needs a television series all her own- to art and talk about whatever she likes. She was great on today's Mojo radio show- and I'm so honored to share the page space in your book with Lisa!
Lisa does great work and and has some great goals ....
hugz bev
bold and beautiful colours. Lisa's work makes me happy just to look at, wish I could see it up close.
I need to dig out my "True Colors" book again-so much inspiration.
She's transformed these simple objects, great!
Lisa is a charmer.....I was trying to think of an adjective that would make HER smile. She makes ME smile all of the time.
I have never met her in person, but I can feel it in my bones that it will happen one day. Have room in your suitcase, Seth?
Oh....and I adore her work. Talent out the wazoo. I think she should produce a line of her tools , either huge to hang on the wall or ones that actually function and we can use.
So happy to get my emails from you everyday Seth...and now I'm off to visit Lisa's blog! I know it will be awesome!!!
I like how you said "True Colors heroes". That"s when I discovered Lisa and fell in love with her work. Thanks for including her.
Daring humor! Nice.
Wow...now I know what all the commenters who got lost in Lisa's blog were talking about! I just went on her journey and almost forgot to come back too! Lisa, you're quite a gal!
Boy this girl seems to have fun in art!
Lisa rocks...so fun that is part of the book!!
Great humour, great art, a site that will take some exploring. Thanks Seth!
Seth I gave a copy of your wonderful book..to Abby Longshore. She is on the verge of self discovery...she already has everything she needs. Have a great time in your media blitz and email me when you come home to New York...I have a fusty gift for you. Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
another good people i gotta get to know!!
what a unique interesting artist
I really like Lisa's larger than life art. It is pretty super, in a rather street art sort of way.
