31/31: Linda Woods

31 artists...31 days. Spend every day of March with me at The Altered Page to meet the 31 spotlight artists in my book The Pulse of Mixed Media: Secrets and Passions of 100 Artists Revealed. See their beautiful faces, read their 'quirky' bios written in their own words, see some of their art that led me to invite them to be a part of my book, and hear my story of what they each mean to me. Then click on over to their sites and see what they have to say about The Pulse of Mixed Media.
------------------------------------
I am an artist, author, and a rule breaker. I eat cookies for breakfast.

------------------------------------
I know Linda Woods from many different places. I think I discovered her books first. Along with her sister Karen Dinino, she has written several books, among them Journal Revolution, that come with a manifesto that all artists should heed. I know her from her blog, where she always tells it like it is in a very engaging and refreshing style. I know her through her participation in the online version of The Pulse. And I know her through eBay, where I bought a piece of her art long before I knew that she was THE Linda Woods.

She has been a good friend to me, supporting my goals as an artist and author from the beginning of my life as an art blogger to today. She is real, funny, soooo talented, and a true pioneer. I am thrilled that she is part of my book because the landscape of the mixed media community would look very different without Linda, her point of view, and her creativity. She seemed to me to be the perfect bookend with which to complete the 31/31 series. Thanks Linda!

I love Linda. She makes me laugh and she tells it like it is, as a true Aries always does. ;)

I think she's really talented and what I love about her art is that it's so accessible. It's fresh and direct and uniquely hers.

She is a good friend to have.

Linda's art is simply honest and simply divine. I love it to bits. It is approachable in a direct way so that I can stand by its' side on an equal footing. Eyeball level. Really wonderful experience for me. So I'm off in search of more of her work on her blog. *smiles* Norma
p.s. and Seth!!! I'll miss you. I've just spent the most wonderful 31 days and feel altered (in a good artistic way) because of this. It is due to your enabling spirit, your creative heart, and just you being you. So thanks art friend. Thanks. *virtual hugs here, and a bit of running and jumping and sprinkling fairy dust* N, xo

She had me at 'cookies for breakfast'. They are a food group, right? I really love her point of view and humor. Pretty nice art too.

Thanks for another share Seth but i have to disagree with the mob, i think cookies for breakfast is a very unloving and un-nurturing thing to do to your body. Give me a herb omelette instead ♥

I suspect the cookies for breakfast have a lot of people laughing and enjoying the "rule breaker." What fun art Linda has. I especially like how she incorporates photos as part of her mixed media art. This has been a really wonderful group, Seth. I have SO enjoyed reading about every artist.

I own Visual Chronicles and love Linda's work. She is probably one of the first artists that I "found" in my quest to learn more about visual journaling. She inspired me to just jump in and not be afraid to try it. Thanks for sharing her work on your blog and for these great 31 days! May you experience continued success in your art journey and with your new book. Blessings to you Seth!

Linda is certainly One of a Kind in the best way. I absolutely CLING to her FaceBook/Twitter feed when the award shows are on. She makes Joan Rivers look like she's in a coma.
Love this Girl.

Certainly enjoyed this day by day tribute to artists. I love Linda's work and can't wait to see her books. Cookies are great for breakfast if they're homemade. I eat Kashi cereal too. The best with fresh blackberries and strawberries. (Are we off the subject?)Thank you for 31/31 and your book.

I love these funny artists you are introducing me to! Linda is a hoot! Loved her blog! Her art is good too, but her humor! Wow over the top!

This has been such an incredible run, Seth! I have appreciated, and 'relished in', the introductions to artists that I didn't know anything about, and have loved finding out more about those whose blogs, websites, and books, and artwork I have previously enjoyed. Linda Woods seems the perfect choice for day 31! I love the way she integrates photographs into her work, using a particular image to further a very specific theme or idea. The ancient tree in the first piece of hers shown on this post, with the handwritten words, "I am still here" speak to this kind of 20/20 focus, and to her ability to express her ideas with an amazing economy of means! I now have Linda's blog 'bookmarked', and am excited to investigate more of her artwork, and thoughts in her books. Thanks, once again, Seth, for these past 31 days! Just like the book, they have been full of inspiration and revelation! . . .and one more thing, sir: You are the BEST!

Linda's work is such fun and very much like her personality as you described it Seth. Must get her book.

Her works generally feel light and whimsical to me (maybe it's the color use) but when she adds text, it speaks volumes. Great addition to the tour. This has been a delightful month!

She sounds like a good friend-and anyone who eats cookies for breakfast is ok with me! Now to check out her blog.

Seth, another huge success! Linda is delightful, her art, her blog, her books and of course her sense of humour. This was a wonderful way to end the 31, and I look forward to whatever you have lined up next.

Linda says your book is available as an ebook! I'm off to investigate that now because I am STILL waiting for my copy to arrive. See how impatient I am!

Carol said...

Woo Hoo! Now I have your book on my iPad. Love it! Of course...now I can patiently wait for Australia Post to bring my hard copy.

I believe that I must know Linda Woods personally, under another name. Not only does she look very familiar, but she must have been with me one morning at breakfast.
