What's with the sunflower seeds?
I first saw Dale Chihuly in Pilchuk, WA, about twenty years ago. I admire SOME of his glass work, but have been told by those 'in the know' that he doesn't blow glass any more - he hires young artists to do that for him. If it's his idea in the chandalier, it's awesome, even if he had someone else do it.

Great images, I love the Victoria & Albert Musuem and made a trip there when I was visiting my family earlier in the year. My favorite rooms are the cast courts, I never failed to be amazed when I walk into them.
Such extraordinary sights! I wonder how much that Chihuly weighs? I would have liked to watched the installation!

Aaahhh - you saw the sunflowerseeds IRL!!!! Wowzah! Did you walk on it? That was allowed at first, but then they closed it (no walking over/playing in it anymore) so you can only see it from the side. I would have loved to walk in it!
Wow, when I saw the rugs hanging over the banister in the store I thought it was a quilt show! LOL

Did you read about why and how the Sunflowers came about ? a very interesting story ... the artist Ai Weiwei is now under House Arrest in China.
I adore Dale Chihuly work. always so intriguing and the logistics alone are mind bending.

Chihuly always takes my breath away!
we saw a similar installation a couple of years ago in SF at the Legion of Honor ... there was a brilliant yellow sunburst out in the courtyard that was totally WOW too ... bathed in CA sunlight!
